Elburgon Town is a small town in Nakuru County, Rift Valley Province, Kenya. It is located 30 kilometres west of Nakuru. Nearest towns include Molo, Njoro and Rongai .
Elburgon Town is an electoral ward of the Molo Constituency and Nakuru County. Elburgon is also a name of an administrative division in Nakuru District. Elburgon division is divided into three locations: Elburgon, Mariashoni and Turi.
Economic Activities in Elburgon Town
Apart from agriculture the lumbering industry serves as a key economic activity in the town.The timber industry serves as a key employer in the town. Lumbering companies such as Timsales ltd and Chekimu WoodmartT are just a few of the logging and sawmilling factories that harvest timber in the highland region of nakuru and beyond.
Elburgon Kenya used to be a thriving timber town on the fringes of the Mau Forest in Western Kenya. Large scale deforestation and a government ban on logging has resulted in very high unemployment in Elburgon Kenya and the surrounding area. An estimated 100,000 people who were directly or indirectly employed in the timber industry countrywide are reported to have lost their jobs following the logging ban, a third of them from Elburgon Kenya.

Places to Visit and Things to do while in Elburgon Town
Katrima Farm, located three kilometers from the town center near Arimi Primary School: This farm boasts an agricultural tradition that is famous for the area. Another farm to sight in the area include: Kilima Farm which is 7 kilometers from Elburgon. Others include Shawa, Michatha, Cimbria, Kin, Scott, Brian’s Inn-Njoro, Ngata and Ngwatawiro Farms.
The removal of the trees has also resulted in a dramatic fall in the water table, and with ground cover removed dust pollution has become a common feature, compounded by the large hills of smouldering sawdust that still remain. What was a flourishing town is now in the grip of an economic and environmental disaster.
